Here Are A Few Of My Favorite Things

GOURDS!!!! Yeah I know, I'm a freak, but a harmless one! You would not believe how many raw gourds I have. I am a greedy little Gourdqueen!
I get so excited when a box of gourds arrive. I can't wait to look at each one and then put them in their special containers. Hey it doesn't take much!
This is the latest box I received. They came from Kansas from a very dear friend who grows the most incredible gourds in the world. You can find her on Ebay under seller name Kgourd.

These are coyote gourds and small bottle gourds. I use these for making ornaments.

These are cannonball gourds and I use these for making Gourdie-Do's.
Here are a few of my supplies that go along with turning my gourds into whatever comes to mind.

These are just a few of my favorite things............................down in the Gourdqueen's Dungeon.

Ah, a big box of pretty, cleaned gourds; indeed a beautiful sight and a very nice haul!
Between my mother and I, we have a massive amount of clean and (mostly) dirty gourds in boxes, waiting to be transformed. We bought as many as we could afford from Welburn farm just before we moved from CA to WA, and we work so slowly on our projects that we haven't touched most of them (and it has been five years)! Hoo boy, I need to step up my game!
Does Kgourd grow larger, thick gourds, too? I'm keeping my eyes open for particular gourd shapes (like kettle, bottles, bushel, and maranka) that better fit a couple recent designs, and while I prefer picking them out in person I'd certainly be willing to look into excellent online gourd-merchants.

So much fun to have a peak around an artist's studio - thank you! We have a gourd farm about 2 miles down our street. Just haven't gotten the chance to make anything with a gourd yet. I'd love to try.

Oh, I so want to come and play with the gourds and hang out in your shop! I don't know how those couldn't inspire and artist!

I bet you start to picture the character as soon as you see the gourd. What fun.

Ooooh! I love the cannon balls. I may have to go and check her out. The farm I shop didn't have a huge selection this year.

I still have the black & white guy (shown at the top of your blog!) that I won in a group we were in together years ago! I absolutely LOVE & cherish that special ornie, and have him on my Halloween tree in my studio for all to see :) *hugs* Brialee

Darn! You have completely shattered my image of you. I thought you lovingly grew all those gourds and had some secret way of shaping them to your desires. Oh well, it doesn't take away from the end result.
