Kindness Of Others

With so much ugliness in todays world, coming to blogland is a real escape. In the short time I have been blogging I have met so many kind and talented people. I have to say it feels like family!

I have a story I would like to share with my blogging family. A story of kindness which for me gives hope that these ugly times just might fade away.

I received an email a few weeks ago from a very special lady who I have known for a couple of years. Her strength and courage while dealing with possible blindness is completely amazing. Yet with this adversity she is always thinking of others. Her name is Jody and I am very proud to call her a friend!

Jody shared a blog with me, one I know many of you are familiar with, Circling My Head. Renee has Inflammatory Breast Cancer and shares her physical and emotional roller coaster ride with the world. So many of us proudly display The Renee Award on our blogs.

Renee, as with all of us, has a love for life and seeing this through her eyes can only be described by visiting her blog. One of her loves is art! That is where Jody and I come in.
Jody purchased one of my gourds, a tiny gourd gnome and asked me to mail it to Renee. I was so honored that Jody picked a piece of my art to share with Renee.
Along with my gnome Jody asked that I attach a poem she wrote just for Renee.

To Renee:
Each time you enter your precious home,
May you be blessed by this little gnome.
Good tidings to you he wishes to bring,
Sweet songs of love to you he will sing.
From him to you all things he will share,
Letting you know he really does care.
---Jody Sullivan

Now if you aren't smiling with a tear in your eye, this mean ole world has gotten to you!
Jody and Renee your love and strength is an inspiration to us all!

Oh, Gourdie,
That just filled my heart! I have known Jody for a couple of years and she is one of the sweetest people I have had the pleasure to meet. She is a strong and courageous gal as well.
I'll bet Renee was filled with joy.
Have a wonderful day and thanks for sharing the good in the world:)

Such a sweet and touching story. I'm so glad you shared this with us. I worked in oncology for the last 20 years of my career and have found there are so many sad stories out there - too many to count - and then so many of these lovely people have the burden of cancer as well. Thank you for reminding us that kindness counts bigtime. Sometimes a simple smile or friendly gesture can really make someones day. One of my favorite sayings is "Here's to good women, may we know them, may we be them, may we raise them." You and Jody are good women!

Thank you so much Linda for the lovely, touching and inspiring post. I am grateful, and forever will be, for your helping em get the gift to Renee. I appreciate all of the extra steps you took with the letter you wrote and the tag you made for the gnome. I've received your email and will reply after Saturday sometime. My schedule is crazy and I'm trying to catch up. Plus I realy should get a post on my blog so no one thinks it's been abandoned. Eeks!

Hugs,
Jody
